The Evolution of Religion in Spain
Written as a final report in SPAN 3070, this reflection explores the development of religion in Spain throughout history. This report demonstrates my ability to recognize religion as a major influence on the culture of a nation and its population. Completing a very detailed analysis allowed me to more fully understand the historical undercurrent that shapes Spanish society today. This enhanced my understanding of Spanish culture during my internship as well.
This report was a combination of a coursework content reflection and a personal reflection on personal experience touring a local cathedral on a class-led trip. This artifact is a clear reflection on the valuable opportunity I had to study about history in a city that with rich with tangible remnants from centuries past. After learning about Gothic architecture, having the opportunity to tour a Gothic cathedral enabled me to more fully understand and appreciate the true scale and details of these constructions, and therefore absorbing a more powerful cultural appreciation for the content we discussed in class.
